Round 2

So on Monday, I drove down to Canon Service Center located at Irvine, CA to drop off the two Canon 5D's I have in my possession.  I was slightly disappointed to find that neither cameras had their mirrors reinforced, which had been part of Canon's global recall for this particular model.  Apparently the adhesive used was insufficient when the camera was used in a high heat, high humidity environment.

Now granted that I probably will never have to deal with such conditions simultaneously living here in southern California, I still felt that it was better to have the mirrors reinforced so that later on, when I try and sell the camera on the used market, it would give the next owner some more reassurance.  Well, at least that's the thought.  But in any case, the mirrors are fixed/reinforced.  I'm happier now than I was prior to Monday.

On a side note, I must applaud Canon Service Center Irvine.  It was a two day turn around, from dropping it off on Monday, to receiving it on Wednesday afternoon.  Granted I could probably superglue the little winglets myself with tweezers and what not... it's the fact that all this was done under warranty/recall and the shipping back to me was free, 2 day FedEx.  I like companies that try and stand behind their products/services.  Makes me happier that I've invested in the Canon system.

After all, getting into photography, you truly are "investing" into a particular system.  Be it Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc... the lenses stick around forever (or until they fall apart), but the camera bodies come and go.  It would suck if one spends all that money, only to be bamboozled when it comes to getting their camera gear serviced (whether it's under or out of warranty).  Good service is hard to come by, and should be noted and commended when it does happen.
In any case... now it's time to sell off one of my 5D's.  Let's see if anyone is willing to adopt one.
